The grommets on the tarp are unnecessary when used as a ground tarp under your tent, as they may not align with the tent's corners. These grommets are only included for the convenience of using the tarp for other purposes.
The ground tarp is intentionally smaller than the tent's footprint to ensure proper water drainage. Folding any excess tarp under the tent is recommended, as staking it down can cause damage. The tarp is designed to stay in place simply by laying it flat.
